Harvest Moon: Back To Nature
calcprgmer  Account Info

I'm Going To Make Harvest Moon In Basic For The 83+ but I Have One Problem; Since All The Other Basic HM games are just Menus, I want to make a graphical version. All I need Is 8x8 sprites to use in the program using Omnicalc's "sprite(" command. If any body is interested in drawing some simple sprites (Hoe, Sickle, Watering Can, Hammer, Ax, Seed Bags, Flower Boxes, Plants, etc.) Reply or drop me an email at <calcprgmer@hotmail.com>. Any help would be appreciated. By The Way, I've become uninterested in many games that just need optimization, so anyone willing enough to take over these programs drop me an email!

"sprite(" command problems...
silent_fury  Account Info

A word of warning about Omnicalc's sprite command: It can't be transmitted through a link cable (and no, I don't have OS 1.15). To read a description of the problem, see the "Web Page" link above. It's the readme for SimCity 3000, a game I released recently that uses the "sprite(" command. It's gotten about 700 downloads, but I don't know how many people took the time to make the required changes to the programs on the calc.
In short, I would highly recommend using a line/pixel drawing system. It may be slower, but it's more widely compatible.

Actually I've Solved This Problem! If You Group The File Before Sending It To The Computer, It Prevents This. I've Tried This Many Times When I Have Backed Up Any Of My Programs From Time To Time. Just Thought You Be Interested In Knowing This. By The Way, I've Downloaded Your Program and actually tried it. After Playing It I Decided I Would Try Making My Own Version With Better Pictures And So On, but Just Gave Up! Hope This Reply Helped

Maybe so, but when I try to ungroup a program with an Omnicalc token in it, it gives me an ERR:INVALID message. Are you saying you don't get this? If not, what OS do you have? I have 1.14...

I have another question...this time not *AS* stupid.

I noticed how people like to make programs and say, "If anyone is interested in finishing it, just contact me". Does that ever work? You would have to give them a list of what the variables and stuff mean.

Replying to Nothing
Gerhalt Account Info

I don't think so. First of all it is in Basic. Seriously, why would you want to "Take Over" someone else's program or project when you could easily duplicate it without looking at the code (Most of the time). In ASM I could see people doing that, but in basic? No way!

I wouldn't mind joining, just so long as no internet chat stuff is required. E-mail is fine, but I cannot chat. By the way, calcprgmer, I used Jeff Chai's Tutorials for the 83+. It worked for me, and I have a fairly good knowledge of how everything works. Try it out!

Gerhalt

P.S. My "TI-83 Plus Assembly Basics" Includes the assembler and everything, along with Jeff's tutorials.

I would join also, but like Gerhalt, I can't chat. So, are you people serious? And please tell me you will have a good website, because I almost joined KingSoft, until I saw their website. Also, I any programming group that's named after the founder (i.e. KingSoft). That's just too unimaginative.

Re: Sounds good to me...
Gerhalt Account Info

By the way, I agree with Silent Fury. Many websites totally stink *Need a better word without swearing :)* and the programmers for the group are *No Offense* usually incompetent dweebs with no life. If I join a group, I expect it to have a good clean looking website with a cool programming group name. Such as BlackGames, with a black 3-D orb logo with a spiral going into red as it goes around the orb. And by the way that was original, just for your info. It is not that hard to get a cool name. Also, It needs a light colored site, with white or tan as background, not a black or dark color or a harsh color on the eyes such as red. I have a format I think would look pretty good on a website, and the logo would be fun to do too... But first we need a host. If anyone starts a group and gets a good domain name I wouldn't mind joining. Sorry if I am confusing... Just my thoughts.

I don't have a website, but I am serious about starting a group because most of the other ones out there do suck. A website would have to be made... So do you guys want to get this started? E-mail is fine to all you who can't chat because I can't either. E-mail me with confirmations.

As long as you get a decent web page, count me in. I want a programming group, and I know most of you, So if we can get a good web page and release a few programs we will be set. I am still working on Shining Force, though with the huge size a may release it in greyscale after I make it in black and white. Don't worry, the graphics are still superb! I am doing the documentation right now, and there are 35 Items! It will be a huge but good program!

Group Stuff

That would be great... get Reggie to agree, cause it's cool with me. By the way, yes I am serious about starting/being in a programming group. If you could set it up I think Stickboy would like that too. I am working on the logo, e-mail stickboy (Or me if you don't mind stickboy... I can tell him the name and stuff;). I have an idea for the logo I'm working on. By the way, remember when doing a website use a white or light blue or tan background, something that looks nice, for example tan background with light blue text. Try it out, it looks pretty good!

Gerhalt

P.S. If we get a neat website I might want to learn HTML so I can help :)

Eclipse Studios
Gerhalt Account Info

Well, either my e-mail was goofed and it just hasn't come, or he didn't inform me. I really meant what I said about the colors. Lighter sites give a better, cleaner look. The eclipse logo is great, but the font for the title was odd. Anyways, It looks O.K., but not as nice as it could have. Too bad I don't know HTML, or I would make a site. By the way, free hosting is fine, but why did you choose Tripod? Tripod has a lot of pop-ups and stuff. Oh well. Calcprogrammer, were you refering to tripod or something else. I imagine my parents would let me make a site if it was free, and they saw that it was just for my calc. Anyway, gotta go. And think about what I said. Oh, and if you meant something else other than Tripod e-mail me at tgrmtn@Nocharge.com. I wouldn't mind making a website, I think I could get some pretty good graphics for it too. Thanks!

How 'bout Sonic Studios? The logo could be a bullet going through the letters with the ripples behind it (can you tell I just watched the Matrix? :), and our "saying" could be something like breaking the barriers.

Website Domains
calcprgmer  Account Info

I'm Currently Doing My Research on free domain names. It depends on what we are looking for. greatnow.com offers 100 mb of storage and ftp but only 500 mb of bandwidth. Angelfire has fewer popups and more bandwidth, but only 20 mb of storage. Geocities offers 3 Gb of bandwidth, but only 15 mb of space. If any one would like to direct me to the best free domain, it would be appreciated.

BTW Does anyone know where to get a free webserver?

     9 May 2003, 18:52 GMT

Re: Website Domains

Since calc programs take up little room, try getting the free host with the least pop-ups. Well, good luck on getting it. Hopefully you can get your computer into a server. Good Luck!

Eclipse Studios Site
silent_fury  Account Info

I REALLY agree with Gerhalt about the colors. And hey stickboy, if you can't change the background color, can you at least change the hyperlink color? Blue on black is _really_ harsh... Also, I'm learning html now, so if you need help/ideas, you can email me.

Oh, and by the way, Gerhalt (and everybody else in zee group), you should try learning html. It's REALLY, REALLY easy! Try the html basics tutorials at www.html goodies.com (no space) I got done with the six-day tutorials in one...

One more thing: We should move this topic to the newest page, just to make it easier to get to...

I'm almost done learning z80
And still a bit shaky with it
The stuff I need to learn is mostly sprite drawing routines and good use of keypress commands I'd like to learn it from another programmer instead of a tutorial
I want to make an EXACT clone of MegamanX for the 83+
I also want to make a graphical StarCraft

StarCraft
silent_fury  Account Info

Graphical StarCraft would be *awesome*, but it would probably have to be a group project if it's going to be good. A couple asm programmers, and a graphics guy, or something like that.

btw, I've never done a program with anybody else. Has anybody? Wouldn't that be difficult? I mean, variable compatiblity, routine compatibility, etc.
