Nice idea, but you should allow you to change the # of posts in your details. That way, Joe Blow on his 14.4 can have only 5 pop-up at once, and Mr. Ereet Haxor on his 10.8Mb T1 can have the whole thing show up. And Mr. Newbie Wanna B. on his 53k can have his first 150 or so show up at a time.

BTW: I think it'd be sooo 3|233t if you guys made each post have it's # somewhere on it, that way you can remember what number you stopped at, ate lunch, and came back to, like, if you're reading about Nick's p0rgramming abilities at skool.

(:

Just some suggestions.

The pages are really nice and everything, but some of us are (really, really, really, --goes on for pages--, really) lucky and connect to the big main servers (the ones in Chicago for example) insanly fast, insanely high bandwidth lines right out of our house. I have a corporate server running right off of one. :) It would be nice if I could just specify "all" or "the vast majority" to get rather than the preset amount. I also really don't like the fact that it sometimes cuts conversations off right in the middle. It's a pain to keep going back and forth between the two pages.

Exactly! I have a T1 connection from UCLA, and it takes much quicker to load a whole page than one by one. I suggest that Ti-calc makes it personal. I mean that you should be able to chose in your user account.

I fully agree with you.
Either do away with it or make it a prefrence option. But then again,(AAH! BUT AT THE BEGINNING OF A SENT.!)will visitors w/no accounts be stuck with new way or old way until they apply for an account? Quite the conundrum. Enourmous enigma. Perplexing Puzzle.( YOU GET THE IDEA)

Anyway,Whose idea was this!? yuck! Now i dont know which page my post will be on, and have to find it to see if anyone respondes to this comment.
Vote no on the survey! Please!
I will be arranging a picket in front of TICALC headquarters. Bring a sign and a bottle of water! Also there will be a fundraiser to raise public knoweldge of the issue and to get supporters of the 'no to split posts' vote.

But seriously, this feature needs to be done away with. The waiting gave me time to try out new downloads. Sure, waiting is a bore, but i hate this much worse.

Just my 2 bits.
Yes i know thats 25 cents. My comments have more value than those of you who add "my 2 cents" to your comments. I could BUY 12.5 comments with my one comment! Nya-ha-ha! Mwa-ha...<<evil laughter fades in the distance>>

Are we going to burn TI-81's in protest?
If not, how about printouts of the split-comment pages?

You should add a thingie in the account preferances that asks how many comments we want to pop up, or the whole thing for that matter.

absolutely yes - i have dsl at work, so i can wait for 60 or 70 to load. At home on 56k, I'd make it 25.

I'm running only a 56k connection but have no problem waiting for full pages like the Wacky Fun Random Number Generator v1.00000069 and the Anarchy Trial because I browse with at least two browser windows and read one while the other downloads.

You need to be able to jump to any specific page.
You also need a way to show all the comments.

I know. Thats what I do.
I meant for the people who are not as "technically inclined"...

Those who are "technologically disinclined" should do one of the following: become more inclined, put up with serial comment page browsing, or simply not explore the message boards. If I sound too cynical, its because I'm currently under the influence of Dogbert.

"Technologically disinclined" doesn't sound right, but since its summer, I'll let it go.

Besides, you'd have to be pretty inept not to see that after a while...

(inept: generally incompetent)

I think it's a really good idea, because if it wasn't, the page simply would be too loooong. I don't think it should be bigger - I do enough scrolling and waiting for stuff to load on my 28.8K modem :-)

I think that the COMMENTS PER PAGE should be an item that we can edit with our ticalc.org preferences. I love this system for my 56k modem at home, but I know that when I get back to school and am on an ethernet that I am going to want to see the whole page at once.

I would like to see the newer comments posted before the older ones. That way, I don't have to scroll through pages of older comments with people saying things such as, "First post!"
