I feel this might not be a contest between programs of 2007, but rather a popularity contest between the z80 and 68k calculators.

...or Windows and Linux, as TiEmu3 works on both, and the IDE only works on Linux (at least the released version, I've got a working Windows port sitting on my hard drive).

You _are_ aware that the TiEmu developers use mainly "Lincrap" as you call it? Thank you for your vote, and yes, we do try hard to support Winblow$, but no thanks for your rationale! GNU/Linux rulez!

You have no idea how hard it is to support TiEmu for Windows, especially with GTK+....

He's talking about making it work on Windows, not using it. Without all the work done to get TiEmu running on XP, you wouldn't be using it at all.

I'm suprised y'all didn't just say "All Winblow$ users deserve to be bereft of our awesome compiler! Forget them!". Thank God you didn't! Or I'd have to sit through a many hour download of a new OS!

Linux (Ubuntu in this case) is better than Windows technologically. Its graphics routines are ridiculously fancy and it's ridiculous how little memory it takes to run them too. The memory cost is like nothing (64mb - 128mb). Vista however, does look nice, but is nothing compared to that cube view (whatever the thing's called) on Ubuntu. Plus Vista requires like 1gb of ram. The only reason I haven't converted to "linuxism" is because most mainstream programs use Windows and you are pretty much crippled if you are trying to use Ubuntu without internet. I don't have internet on my own computer, which means I can't do all the cool linux stuff, but I run linux on a partition anyway.

...but what if we run TiEmu3 under Linux? :)

Based on OS usage, I would expect TiEmu3 to have at least 10x as many votes as the Z80 IDE, unless ticalc.org attracts many more Linux users than the average piece of the Internet (which is entirely possible).

Big sorry for all Linux users.
I`m just kidding.
Ahhh.
And sorry for my bad English.
Now i will be calling Windows like Winblow$ by Micro$hit.

Well, the Z80 IDE works on OS X too. :) Less trouble getting it to work than TiEmu3, too.

Not exactly on topic, but do 68k calcs have a more powerful processor than the z80 ones? Because a lot of the 68k games have incredible greyscale graphics, while most z80 games don't.

Of course. 68k speeds range from 10 Mhz to 16 Mhz, depending on the hardware version. Also, the instruction set is better on the 68k. I don't know about the 83+/84+ SE, but the screen quality is also better on most of them than z80s. Not to start a flame war, just saying why the 68k has more awesome graphics. There's also probably some other factors in there that make it possible to make better games on the 68k too.

Thanks, noticing the Super Mario 1.2 for z80 calcs and Super Mario68k, the graphics difference is tremendous.

They do, although the higher-resolutions screens on the 68k calculators make more of a difference.
