I'm not much on memorizing stuff. I let my calculator do it because I'm too lazy.

So, you are wondering if anyone can memorize to 50? All I have relating to pi anywhere near me is NOTHING. Here it goes:
3.14159 26535 89793 23846 26433 83279 50288 41971 69399 37510 ...

he he, you made a mistake. last week, I was getting bored in my math class, and figured I'd memorize ¹ since the guy who sits next to me knew 100+ digits. lets see how I do.
3.141592653589793238462643383271502 8841919716939937510582097494459
that's 64 decimal places. I wrote it into my calculator to about a hundred places, does anyone know a website where I can find it past 100?

now I feel kind of dumb, because after I posted that, I went to the webpage of the pi search thing, and he has ¹ written to the exact same number of decimal places, so it looks like I coppied. except that his is wrong. What he has is:
3.14159265358979323846264338327 (((9))) 50288419716939937510582097494459
that nine should be a one. HA. Atl least, I think it should be. I learned it off one website (not that one) and from two friends, and they all thought it was a one...

PROGRAM:PI

:(A+C)/2->A
:(C*E)^(1/2)->C
:D-(B*(A-E)^2)->D

4 loops of the above program will calc pi to the display accuracy. I don't know who discovered this algorithm.

this blows the mind...
How long would it take to download a googleplex (1 with a google zeros after it) with a 56kps modem?

Well, a googleplex would take (10^100)+1 bytes, which translates into approx. 9.53674*10^93 megabytes. On a 56kps modem operating at 56kps (which they rarely do) with no downtime, it would take:

2.9065460119048*10^93 minutes
4.8440500198413*10^91 hours
2.0183583416005*10^90 days
5.5259613818637*10^87 years (counting leap years)

However, with a DSL line running at 1.5 megabytes per second, it would only take 2.0146734204712*10^86 years, so you should get a DSL line.

In your computations, I think you're thinking of just a google, which equals 10^100. Amazingly, those times are what would be required just to view the number googleplex itself in non-exponential form.

Another thing- how can a 56k modem download 9.53674*10^93 = 2.9065460119048*10^93 minutes? They cannot get 3.28 megs per second. You need to check your numbers.

e is easier to calculate than pi is
e=1/(0!)+1/(1!)+1/(2!)+1/(3!).....
on the 89, press [F3] [4] 1 / (x!), x, 0, [infinity] )

press [diamond] [divide] to get [!]

You can do that with pi too:
4*sum((i^2n)/(2n+1),n,0,[infinaty]) [on 89]
it won't give you the pi symbol but i think its right.
Instead of infinaty, you can put a BIG number and get apx pi. Put in 10^x and you get about x-1 digits correct :) Its also VERY slow.

do you know why that is?

it is because e^pi*i+1=0
that's one of Eulers formula's, he considered those to be the 5 most important numbers and he put them in one equation

You don't need to type all of those zeros, you just have to write a short program that creates a text file and outputs the string "2.", followed by a for loop which adds the character '0'.

void main(){
ofstream root2;
root2.open("sqrt2.txt");
root2 << "2.";
for(int x = 0; x < 100000000; ++x)
{ root2 << '0'; }
root2.close();}

Certainly a lot quicker than actually typing those 100000000 zeros. Simple enough?
