this isnt really much of a question, all of the answers are yes. is either you will make a pi program or you dont know what pi is.

Python Urllib appears as one of the browsers. That would be CalcStat.

Hmm...I already HAVE written a program to calculate a million digits (yay for IA32 assembly!). But since I did 1,000,500 to take care of any round off errors, I then fit in "no more than 1 billion." Yay!

HAPPY PI DAY!!!!!!!!

...Sorry, it wouldn't fit in the link box. I used it to get 128,000,000 digits on my computer. You can get as many as can fit in your computer's memory provided you want to take a load of time to get to it. It took around 5 hours to get to 128,000,000 for me. All you have to do is type in what method of calculation you want to use, how you want the data to be outputted, and how many digits to go to and your done :). Of course, it is explained more thoroughly in the manual.

*Bows before crowd* :-P (But I didn't write it...)

Wow... scratch that.. I just re-ran that program, and I got 128,000,000 digits in just under 30 min... not too shabby :).

My computer does one million digits in 7 seconds. I need to get an Opteron system with 16 GB of RAM and a 500 GB hard drive so I can compute pi all day long...

I got 1,000,000 digits in 2.30 sec with QPi (link).
It seems to be faster than PiFast on my machine (P4/2.66 GHz/768 MB RAM).

opteron was good in its day, but you definitely need to go with AMD FX-55 64-bit processor. It is hands down the absolute processor on the market (if you can afford it). Although, if you go opteron you can set up dual motherboards, so i do see where the extra memory factor comes into play. I still say go AMD64. NEVER BUY A P4!

Opteron's can't handle 16GB RAM. They're 32-bit.

No...Opterons are the top of the line 64-bit processors from AMD. They can address 256 terabytes.

AUUGGH!!! I've succumbed!!! Please replace the glaringly incorrect "Opteron's" with the far more pleasing "Opterons".

And, while I'm at it, Oops, I didn't realize Opterons were 64-bit. My bad.

"Other platforms (linux, sun, ...) are not available yet."

"The source code of PiFast is not available."

Why not release it under the GPL?

Interesting how there isn't a "No" option. :-)

I have written a program called Pi Expansions for the 83 Plus which, while it doesn't calculate pi to any more digits than the display can handle, the expansions of pi are very interesting. Click on the link to download it.

Hahaha, strictly calculating it in your head, I don't see how anybody could get more than two digits of accuracy without knowing anything of pi beforehand. :-P

Otherwise, I can "calculate" 165 right now.

Check out the link.

There was a man named Zacharias Dase who lived in the mid 1800's, who was an absolute mathematical prodigy. He could do awsome calculations in his heads, and did them perfectly and quickly. A mathematicican once hired him to calcuate pi in his head. It took him 2 months, but he calcuated 200 digits of pi, perfectly.
