Good idea, but I think these results aren't perfectly democratic.
Someone who has downloaded the file would rather answer such questions than someone who hasn't done so yet.

Hence the reason there is no "zero" choice! Could you do me a favor? Come to Arizona, and cry me a river. We could use some rain about now...

Yeah, he probably just missed that option. I didn't notice it the first time through, either.

Well, let's just say, if you HAVEN'T downloaded VTI, then you're a n00b. j/k

Or was I...? ;-)

Anyway, most people who are going to take the time to register to get an account, vote in the polls, and leave comments are going to take the time to download and use VTI. So, if you haven't downloaded it yet, you should now. THEN you can go back up and vote "1." :-D

Kinda off topic, but somewhat related: check out my link! I think this guy has more downloads than ANY other BASIC programmer I know!! Simply amazing!! Although, he DOES have (almost) more BASIC programs than anyone I know...Actually, now that I think of it, Kerm Martian is up there on that list too...on all three lists I believe...

Ok, I guess I'm wrong...both Michael Lloyd and Kerm Martian have more programs (all BASIC for Michael, and almost all BASIC for Kerm)...

Yeah, well, remember, it's pretty easy to convert something in basic from 89 to 92 to 92+ to v200...as in changing the screen sizes and such. That's four times the number of people who can download each program...roughly, that is...i realize more people have 89's than the other calcs in that group. Still, it's a lot more people, and easily.
Plus, remember a lot of people (like me) do basic cause it can be done on calc, which gives you a lot more time to program, which makes it easier to come out with new progs.

not only that, but not as much time is REQUIRED to program in basic...I could write a quadratic formula program in BASIC in under 5 minutes, but in ASM...that would take, potentially, quite a while...

I have no Idea what VNC or VCN are but the program that the macs use is called PC connect. the PCs have to run some special boote code (based of of linux I think) that makes them run the server, but if they get shut down they have to use the disks again. there are theese machines that are called thin clients that are like a computer whithout a HD I am not sure what they boot of of.

It's called "network booting". Thin clients boot exclusively from an operating system image located on a server. This image could contain just about any OS as long as the thin clients can boot it and the server supports its use for network booting. All hard drive-related stuff happens on the server too - therefore, there's no need for the thin clients to have a hard drive of their own.

The needed code is built into Mac OS X. All that needs to be done is to tell Mac OS X to use it by selecting "Network Startup" in the Startup Disk pane of System Preferences.

I don't know what the situation is with Windows, though. I am not aware if extra software needs to be installed to get Windows to boot off the network. Plus, your hardware must support this too (I know that all G3 and later Macs support this; can't say the same about G1, G2, and 68k Macs though).
