Ahh! They didn't have QBASIC! Oh well, "Other BASIC" works.

I think this is the record for the most options in a poll.

QBASIC is cool, but it does not work right under XP :(, so I use Visual Basic mostly, but that may change, as I am thinking about making an OS for the PC & an OS for my Z80-based computer.

yeah! NQC, you mean for the Lego, right?
I used it for some time, but I always wanted to switch to brickOS (well the language is C, anyway..). It gives far more power!!!

I wish someone would adapt Python to the Lego Mindstorms. I'm too lazy to learn a new language, although I do have that book on NQC.

Woah--they made a book soley on NQC??? I thought it stopped at the RCX Command Center documentation. Cool...

Anyway, I use the Lego Remote more than NQC. Once I used my RIS and my RDS to play IR tag. I programmed the RCX with some AI, but I couldn't do the same with the LASM language for the RDS, so I just wrote a pinging program for the RDS and controlled it remotely. This is the extent of my NQC experience :P

Do any of you have any of the expansion packs to the RIS?

QBASIC all the way, man!
QBasicVotes = QBasicVotes + 1

or QBasicVotes += 1

for the efficient programmer, but I program Java, not exactly one of the faster languages (in comparison to C), but it's sure nice to use.

If he wanted to be efficient, he would have said QbasicVotes++;. Now QBASIC doesn't have += and ++, so that's why he said QbasicVotes = QbasicVotes + 1.

My bad. That language probably blows then.

It does. It's similar to FORTRAN, I think. :-D

If you judge a language based on the way you increment a variable, that's pretty sad :-P

Actually, QBASIC isn't very powerful, but it's not meant to be. It's supposed to be "basic." The reason I like it is because you can make any type of program in just a few minutes. The drawbacks are that it's slow (read by an interpreter) and it's... well, old. It runs in DOS. You can import assembly libraries to do some neat stuff, but I haven't experimented very much with that.

I do vastly more z80 ASM now, but up until about a year ago TI-BASIC was my major language.

Download "How to Learn Z80 ASM in 28 Days". It's in the informational texts archive, I believe.

Yeah, that's only for z80 calcs though. I did that, and it helped me a LOT, but I have an 89, so I also had to learn 68k ASM (which was very easy after learning z80...just new commands and a different architecture to learn)
