Some people either have nothing better to spend their money on (no offense intended to anyone) or have very rich parents.

But it's not JUST 134 bucks... on my old calc that was stolen, I had hundreds of files that I had saved on there that I had put a LOT of time into. One was a database containing people's locker combo, school computer userID/password, lunch pin number, etc. Hehe, that program was SO handy. You'd be amazed at how some people will just tell you their locker combo if you'll open it for them. *grin*

So either way, the morals of the story are
1) Never leave your calc unattended by you or somebody you really trust
2) Always, ALWAYS, back up your files.

I only let people borrow mine to do math on. I don't want people to get caught playing games on it and have it taken up. The teachers at my school do take up calculators if they catch you playing.

I voted "Yes, but only if the person really needs it" only because there is no option "Yes, but only if I trust the person with my life" option.

I put "expendable only." If all they need is something to do arithmetic, I'll probably give them my HP-30s. (For those of you who aren't familiar, that is pretty much a clone of the TI-30X IIS or TI-34, but it was a bit cheaper the day I was buying.) If they're really in dire straits, I'll part with my 83p, but nobody touches the 89.

Nobody has ever asked to borrow my calculator (an 83+SE). They're required for my math class, so everyone has one.

i believe that most precalc classes require them, and almost all ap calc, because you are not allowed to use anything except a graphing calc on the ap test, and it is required for the test.

Anything except? No mental math?!? j/k

Seriously though, If a kid can do it with a four function calc then I say more power to him!

In my class, they are also required... but still they want me to lend my calc to them. Why? I'm the only one active here and the one who has all the games...

They only SAY that they are required-- they actually arent. at least not around where i live. is South Carolina there is a law against public schools requiring students to buy anything except PE uniforms.

My calculator, not yours. Mine.

Offtopic:
A bunch of Palm OS companies are going to be hating me soon--I just released the only freeware pinball game for Palm OS in existance! I knew TI Pinball 0.2 would continue to help me!

"My calculator." Haha, I say that a lot when people ask me for it.

(About the TI/Palm Pinball game...) Really? You know, you could probably "sell" the palm OS companies your program, if you wanted to make some money. Can you do that?

Actually, what I was planning to have happen is that their sales would drop, and each company would pay me to take it offline so that they can start making money again. Most companies do that to inventors that would ruin their business if their inventions were ever marketed (i.e. all the patents for alternate power-source cars are sold to oil companies because they pay the inventors millions to "forget" about their work).
