ticalc.org would definitely be my homepage if my parents didn't insist on it being nytimes.com

nytimes.com, eh? That's not as bad as leaving the home page set to whatever default MSN search page IE has. (gah!)

My mother even types in URLs into the MSN search box!

Now (a day after my above post), ticalc is my homepage. I just created a new acount for myself on my computer, so my parents won't have to bug me about all the calculator icons on the desktop. I downloaded Mozilla and set my homepage as ticalc.org

I would vote yes if I actually used a home page. I have Opera set to open with no pages (since I like complete control over what it does when), and IE is set to Yahoo (per my parents forcing). But I have a nice TICalc button in Opera's Personal Bar.

my homepage is www.google.com. But does it really matter? I mean, how long does it take to click and type "www.ticalc.org" in your browser window? I actually timed myself doing it :P and it was like 2 seconds. Plus, having Google as a home page lets me search for stuff for school assignments more easily. I considered putting Yahoo! as home page, since that's my e-mail, but I decided against it.

Konrad might have meant that it goes to the Spanish version of Google. I have that problem every time I install the Google toolbar for Mozilla/Firefox; it is set to go to some international version of Google by default for who-knows-what reason. But all you have to do is go into the Preferences and change it to the U.S. version of Google.

You can set opera to load with no pages, your home page, or the pages that were open when it last closed (cool, huh?). Is just me, or are we opera users the most fanatical breed in the browser buisness? Sort of like Mac users?

And add "random hex digits" after "some more junk", move "Windows XP" before "my 2 minute OS", and add "monkeys on typewriters" immediately before "random hex digits".

This, plus my other change results in: Linux/MacOS X (they are equivalent, OK?), Unix, my Voyage 200 AMS, 83+/se TIOS, MacOS <=9, the OS I wrote in 5 minutes yesterday, Windows XP, my 2 minute OS, some more junk, monkeys on typewriters, random hex digits, Windows 95/98/Me, the contents of my toilet, Windows <=3.1, DOS.

The google search box is built into the adress bar by default in Opera 7-7.5 TP3. You can also use the box to search other engines, like google.com/linux, amazon.com, or opera help. Very convenient. No need to drag anything.

In the absolute latest version of opera, you can type g [searchterm] in the adress bar, and it will perform a search. There are similar tools for other search engines, like x [searchterm] for google.com/linux. There should be one for TiCalc.org. I believe explorer can be configured to do this, but it is much harder, and requires knowlege of google's URL syntax.
