What "original" simcity?

Do you mean the BASIC one for the TI83+, or the one on PC/mac.

I've played the BASIC one, and simcity 2000, but not the first PC release

I assume they're talking about SimCity Classic, here and not SimCity 2000. I played SimCity 2000 very much, but not SimCity Classic (I've played it some, though). I got into SimCity 2000 much more.

Was this poll inspired by our long "Oh, SimCity brings back memories!" discussion?

well, at the time we played it, it wasnt SimCity classic, just SimCity. But i think thats the one theyre talking about, with the simple overhead graphics where the hospitals look like this:

I played it when it was just "SimCity" also. I still have the floppy. Mm. Smell that floppy disk!

I assumed they meant the Superior Software version for BBC Micro... ;)
Did the "original" version they're talking about here have Godzilla as a "natural" disaster? The Beeb version sure did!

IIRC, it was called "monster", but otherwise, yes, it did.

Yes, I've played the original one, and then a friend brought over the newest one, and I couldn't play it.

Don't worry about that too much. SimCity 2000 (and presumably the original) is superior to SimCity4. SimCity4 chugs too much on a decent computer. And I wouldn't ever dream of playing it on my calculator.

I own SimCity 2000, Streets of SimCity, and SimCopter. Streets and SimCopter let you load your own cities you made in SimCity to drive or fly around in. It's pretty cool, although I haven't played any of them for a while. I also own SimTheme Park, but that's different.

I have about 8 Sim games or so. SimTower, SimCity Classic, SimCity 2000, SimSafari, SimCopter, Streets of SimCity... and some more. But the biggest one that I don't have is The Sims. That game's fun.

Well, I voted yes, but I am not 100% sure. I played the first one out for the Atari ST. It is a great game, and original enough for me to call it original.
Anyway, I am back in small doses and in the middle of rather fun exams.

I have it on the SNES. It is a great and fun game, that will keep you playing fo hours and hours. I never would use a disaster to destroy my city. I could not do that to something that I have worked on for so long.

All you have to do is save the game and THEN use a disaster...and how could you NOT do that? that's the best part of the game! :)

I don't know. I just felt kind of uneasy destroying my creation. Though, in newer versions, I have played the disaster mode.

I had it on PC, and I got it for SNES. I destroyed my cities whenever I got really frustrated with them. That was usually because I ran out of funds. It was a whole new game when you tried to destroy it. I always sped up the time and did one disaster after another. It was fun to see how many disasters and how long it took to destroy the city.

Heheh...I remember my SNES...I had broken out the plastic tabs sitting next to the game dock so that I wouldn't have to buy an adapter to play the Super Famicom games I bought while in Japan. Hey, how about that new TI-84SE? I'm getting one! Long Live Dream Theater!!

I have a lot more than that (actual carts) but if I said the number, no one would believe me. Not that I care, I'd prefer playing the roms instead of hoping the battery on one of them doesn't go out, and reset all the save data. >< that and having to clean them all the time... ech.. long live roms! ^_o

...and the first time I played SimCity was on the SNES. Booya.
