Just out of curiosity, who voted 'no', and why?

I was going to ask the same thing...

As I said in the first post, they were just doing it to be annoying, or maybe to be the first one to do it. I dunno, people do weird things for attention :) You think they'd at least post now (maybe then we could find out who it is). There's seven votes and we're the only one's who've posted. That seems odd.. do most people not vote in the surveys?

Usually at first, not a lot of people do.

Oops, sorry (lol) Meant to say, do most people not "discuss" about the surveys. I thought one thing and typed another. Hate it when that happens :)

You've been doing that a lot lately haven't you? Anyway I enjoy the frequent polls because there is always something to do around here.

I'm not that bad! *cry* I just type very fast, and the faster I type, the more errors I create. If I type at a nice, slow pace, then I normally don't make so many errors... but typing slow bothers me :)

Could it be Henrik, maby he doesn't enjoy putting up surveys. But then if he didn't why whould there be all these surveys???

No, because the 'no' vote is very recent. There were only 2 votes before me, and those were both 'yes'.

Henrik and me :) And now there's another. I can't decide if people are doing that to be a nuisance or if they really don't like all the surveys? Well, _I_ do, if that makes any difference :)

The question wasn't whether we liked it or not... the question was whether it was good or bad. Though the result is pretty much the same, it's important to note the difference.

Yay! Another person is online! No, it wasn't Henrik. He had the first vote (I assume), and the guy who voted no was the 6th or 7th. This is really funny... I'm "chatting" on a five minute delayed message board! Since I can't chat, this is the next best thing =) (But I love ticalc anyway) Anyway, this was really one of those ones where I thought that almost everybody would vote yes... and then some guy votes no. That's so rude ;-)

I voted 'no' because like you've previously said, you can't get into discussions if there are new polls every day. I like to read the discussions to find out what's happening in the ticalc community.
Now that i come to think of it, i do like to have new polls more often.
oh well.

I voted no because if there is too many surveys at once people will run out of ideas too quickly. It's best to build a list of ideas and update surveys once the conversations about them have died down. That way the surveys wouldn't come in such extreme bursts and periods of no new surveys would be minimal.

Not to mention that it gives more people a chance to vote if it's up longer... some people *cough* actually take an interest in the results of certain surveys that happen to provoke serious interest... I guess 'we' are just easier to tick off than most people... Looking back, I don't know what I just wrote, but guess who else voted 'no', I dare ya!

Its like a two edged sword, either too frequent or not frequent enough. I think it is a good idea to make a new poll when the conversing gets old and slow. Thats about 2 to 3 days usually.

I voted good, because people stop talking about the surveys after a while, of course, at that point, sometimes it's better because the discussions get off topic...it's more fun when you can talk about whatever and not have to talk about a survey about the frequency of surveys...

lol

I think that about every 2.51 days would be the best, mainly because discussion becomes stale on the third day and there are ~2.51 centimeters in an inch. (Is that an irrational number? I have to do my research.)

Irritated: got verification request on thursday, school internet went down on friday (next day). Reason: fire in room 201, which has (for some stupid reason) the internet connection for the _entire_ school. Fire was on thursday, 3/27 at ~4PM. Arson. $10,000 reward. Room burned was of a (supposedly) really mean teacher.

Actually there are 2.54 cm in an inch and the number is not irrational, that last part is supprising.

but if you're going to use a math number around 2.5, you should always use 2.71828...(I forgot the rest), you know, e! (and I don't mean "e factorial")
but, really, yes I do like surveys about twice a week. much more than that is way to much for me. When I used to be a regular poster I liked sifting through a huge page of stuff that was partly on topic, but being one of the only postings wasn't fun and neither was a couple megabytes of stuff to read through.

(I haven't voted yet, though, b/c I just verified my account b/c I haven't been on here for like 8 months b/c I lost my 86 last summer but I'm back b/c I bought an 83+SE...the memory on those is awesome, I still have 1 MB and there's not much left to download...woah, that's a lot of "b/c"'s)

How come pi is more popular than e? They're both irrational... but I guess pi is better, right?

Pi is more popular than e because most nerds learn pi before they learn e and they're not willing to memorize an absurd number of digits on all the irrational constants they come across.

pi is also more commonly used and known by most people who are not nerds

If someone ran around saying happy e day not many people would know what that person is talking about

That gives me a good idea... I should survey my friends and ask them questions about pi and e. I'd hypothesize that they'd know more about pi than e.

It's just that all that would happen is comments would get deleted and then nobody can converse. (BAD) You can't talk about the same thing for a week straight. If you talk about something else, it gets deleted... that's why it seems to me that the more surveys, the better.

Well, that also depends on how "discussionable" (is that even a word?) the poll is. Some, you really can't talk about.
