I've never opened up my calculator, but I might later. I want a backlight for it, but there is always the risk. I'm still can't make up my mind...

I think that all of us have this fascination with opening the darn calculators up because we have too much time on our hands. And because somewhere in the backs of our little minds we kinda think it'll make us more attractive to the opposite sex...

Well, I had to open it up. Anyone got a black link cabel? Well, mine broke off inside the calc! I had to open the calc to get the tip of the link cabel out! At least it still works (link and calc)!

I kinda have the same problem with my 83 plus, some of you might be thinking "already", well its true, all because of people wo can't stop asking me for games. I think you can get them from radioshack if you know exactly what to ask for, anyway I'm getting one from a broken calculator.

I'm fairly certain that it's a 3/32" sterio jack. But Radioshacks usually don't have them in stock and the part number in the catalog is wrong. (No, of course I don't know from experience. What are you talking about?)

The jack for the ti 83+ 2.5mm smt (Surface Mount Technologly)jack. I have the same problem with my ti83+. I called ti coustomer service and technical support and they would not help me. I do not believe radioshack has smt components. I think the only way to get a replacement would be to measure it and compare it to enginering specs. I am going to check in my mouser catalog and see if i can find a match. If any one knows of the part number could you please post it hear.

Me and a friend opened up our TI-92's to put the Plus Module in them and decided to make a night out of it and took the whole calculators apart. I got mine back together again but he dropped his and lost all the keys. We had to put all the keys back in; however, his comma key was upside down. We left it that way. They both still work. Thank goodness!!! (It's just a little bit of an expensive toy to be tearing apart!)

I have opened my ti92 and changed memorycard and looked around inside it in general, no problems.
But I think linkports are built to break things once I broke a linkcabletip tthat stuck in my ti-86, that i got out alright. But when i broke a pencil in my ti-85 the port break when i should take it out.
Dont put pencils i your linkport :-)

Well, maybe I should try and open up my calculator. It would be interesting. I got a TI-83 in 8th grade, and last year (11th grade) it broke during math class. It's stuck in a program, and I don't know how to make it stop or go back to it. Several guys tried fixing it, no luck. I have the 86 now, which is great. This gives me some ideas.... *grin*

Why the hell would anyone ever open the back of their calc??? They cost anywhere from $80 to $180! That is too much money to risk breaking the thing!
