TI-H: TI-85 Serial Link Problem

I have built up the 4 dollar serial link cable using the schematic I found
on www.ticalc.org. However, each time I plug it into my ti-85 calculator
it basically locks it up. I can only get keys to respond if I repeatedly
press them for several seconds. And of course, I cannot use it to send or
receive data to my PC. I have double and triple checked the circuit and I
can see no problems. I've also used my multimeter to check most of the
connections. 

Has anyone else had or seen this problem? If so, how did you solve it?
