actually, the reason they changed the penny to a zinc alloy with copper
covering, is because people would take pennies, melt them down and sell the
copper in bulk and make profit. This started around WWII, and the goverment go
sick of it in the 70s
There's you a little history lesson ;)

Copper covering, I'm serious...add some HCl to it and you can have a bending
penny cover :P
