Re: TI-H: Re: networking

I'll try with some ascii graphics. (use monospaced font)

If you look at your connector like this with the metal facing towards you:
                                 ____________________
		  ______________|
                 | |
               1 |------- |
               2 |------- |
               3 |------- |
               4 |------- |
               5 |------- |
               6 |------- |
               7 |------- |
               8 |------- |
                 |______________|
                                |_______________________

the twisted pairs are 1 and 2, 3 and 4, 5 and 6, 7 and 8.
(most often in the order brown, green, blue, orange, but that doesn't really
matter)

then switch place of cable 4 and 6:
                                 ____________________
		  ______________|
                 | |
               1 |------- |
               2 |------- |
               3 |------- |
               6 |------- |
               5 |------- |
               4 |------- |
               7 |------- |
               8 |------- |
                 |______________|
                                |_______________________

Do this on both sides, so the cable remains straight.
If you use the standard colorcode, it should then read brown, brown-striped,
green, blue striped, blue, green-striped, orange, orange-striped.

It is also importaint that you really use twisted pairs cable, and with thoose
lenghts it should also be shielded.
