Re: TI-H: Re: Hardware upgrades

Okay... Now how about you find out that its not a real 486, but a 386sx16
that has been upgraded. Then you findout its got a B/W screen. Then you
find out its got 2400 serial ports. Then you find out the BIOS hates
drives over 500MB. Then you find out it uses *XT* keyboards. Then you
findout only 1 of the 3 disk drives works with windows, and no matter what,
the vga card makes windows crancy everytime you start up... :) This
machine is in sad shape... Right it can give is 40k. (40k after
installing a www server). I know even my 386dx20 is faster than this
thing...

WinNT 4? Now thats too easy. Try compiling a BSD kernal to work correctly
with a $20 ethernet card from china... :)

What type of ehternet are you using? (You have to be using some type of
network...)

Oh yeah... I just leave the top off the computer... Everyone thinks that
if they get near, they will be shocked to death... Better than any horn.
:)

Why do you use a proxy? I hate them.... :)

Do you actually get 12.8kb a second through that thing? What ISP do you
have? Does anyone here use Micronet ISDN and think its fast? I need
something real fast... My friends and I are starting a city wide wireless
lan and I was the chosen person for the servers and internet connections...
I have to handle 4 of my own servers, as well as 2 others for commercial
people... It gets hard when you only have 30k per sec, and 5 people trying
to get 10k a sec... :) It gets real slow transfering PhotoShop, Mist,
200MB of MP3s to the thing... :)

Most of the fun was setting it up anyway... Now, I hope the FCC doesn't
catch me and my xmitters... :)

Looks like your computer is better... I tried to hook my 28.8 modem to it,
and got errors at 9600... :( We are going to try to get a better one from
someone in anchorage... Too bad all we can get right now is a 486sx33
tower from church... Someday I will transfer all the WarEz off the server
so I can open it to the public, not just me and 3 other people... :)

btw, it barely does 'Mouse Keys'... :)
