Re: TI-H: Since when do diodes have 3 leads?

Some Surface mount diodes come in SOT-23 cases. The pins are so thin, it
helps to have a third to hold it, and the case is popular, so it's not
like the manufacturer need different machinery then. One process
packages both transistors and diodes. Cheaper.

If you look in a TI-85, you'll see that Diodes 7 and 8 on the main board
are actualy similar diodes. The number on those is M1M.

It's actualy more common than you'd think!!!

One of the M1M's in the TI-85 connect like this...

|___________
| ____ |
| | |-__|
|_-|M1M |-
  -| |-____
   |____|-

This could be for this particular diode, or a standard. I recomend using
a LED and a battery and testing if electricity flows from one pin to
another. It won't be difucult to determine the pins.
