I realize that a little $5 or whatever it is microcontroller can run a robot,
but if you need to change it, it's back to the PC and the programmer! I
personaly wouldn't like that. So the calcs are more expensicve, so what! You
can creat a program on them that will run the bot autonomously, manualy, or by
a set of predetermined sequences. The bot would process the outputs into
motion and let the calc do important things like tell it wherre to go and
recieve data, while the Nv turns "go forward" into actual forward motion. That
is why the calcs would be so well suited to the purpose of robotics. They are RE-programmible.
