TI-H: Why I'm leaving this list.

A few things that should be addressed.
One: Grant.
During the flame war that recently died, you had the gall to laugh
at someone who had posted evidence that supported the strong points of
x86 systems. You also claimed that he was wrong on every point that he
made.
However, you provided, as usual, NO supporting evidence whatsoever. Do
all of TI-H a favor. If you want to make a point, have some proof.
There is no way that a properly written app will run faster on a single
G3 than on a 1,000 node x86 cluster. That's one of your many points
that immediately fell victim to my delete key.
Yes, you can build things, and yes, you now post proof. Keep it
up. That was a sign of great improvement on your part.
G3 outruns PII. Yay. We all know this. all other things are
basically irrelevant, but have you ever considered that we're all too
lazy to compile our apps, and Linux-ix86 binaries are easier to track
down on most FTP sites than any other platform? I know it saves me a
lot of time on my current system. And as Rich made evident, not
everyone has the money for a top-of-the-line machine regardless of
platform.
You can also be quite the hypocrite. When someone said "machines
don't make mistakes, people do," you claimed that Win95 will randomly
screw itself up. BUT, when someone said that MacOS 8 had randomly
screwed itself up, you immediately blamed it on the user. I was very
happy to have been reading the mail after a POP mail check form hotmail,
or else I would've replied to that and kept the war going.

Two: Trolls.
You know who you are. Stay out of arguments if you haven't any
evidence that you're going to divulge along with your arguments. This
goes for people on both sides. Don't say, "Yeah, but MacOS sucks!"
without posting reasons. Also, don't claim that an x86 system cannot be
both powerful and cheap without doing the research. We've all been
burnt by both sides. Mac and Wintel users get burnt by Wintel AND Mac
machines, but are more tolerant to the environment that they "grew up"
with. The one constant is that Linux/FreeBSD is a bitch to install, and
a beauty to run, if you know Unix. But x86 binaries, as I stated, are
easier to come by.

Finally, I saw too many ideas get killed in the flame war, because
everyone was too busy trying to make more noise for their side. To
those of you who explicity run Win95/98/NT/MacOS/DOS with no deviation
from those 5, I'll make my final hurrah. YOU'RE ALL WRONG. None of
those OS's provide a decent amount of stability, speed, or power
compared to a good Linux distribution.

Notice how the content of this last message is as TI-related as the list
itself. Good luck to all.
Advice:
Mel, Grant, no one-line emails. and if you get any ideas, a line is 80
characters, with very little whitespace.
Mel, act your age.
Grant, act Mel's age. Or at least yours. You're a 14- year old who
comes across as a 10 year old with a lot of knowledge.
Rich: Come back soon after the others follow this advice.
Bryan Rabeler: Regulate the list. If totalitarian practices are needed,
too bad for the rest of the list.
Bryan Rittmeyer: Keep up the good work.
All others: stay out of flame wars, and keep up your contributions to
TI-H.
Myself: Stay away from here. 90+ messages worth of annoying flames will
only suck away my valuable time, which is now dedicated to college.
Also, I'm a jerk in flame wars. So stay away from here.

Goodbye.
