Well, not all caps are the same size, ect.

To set the default footprint, do this:

1. Click on the SchLib tab
2. Select the 'File' menu, and then 'OPEN'
3. Set the 'Editor' to SchLib
4. Open the library the part is in
5. Select the component so that you see it on the field.
6. Find the 'Description' button. (Above 'Update Schematics')
7. Click on it
8. In the 'Foot Print 1' Text space enter in the footprint.

Footprints can be found by looking at the PCB editor. That lists all of
them. DIP20 or AXIAL.1 are examples.
