Umm.. MD only holds like 150 MB on a disk. When Sony invented the MiniDisc
format, they also invented ATRAC encoding. It is similar to MPEG layer 3
encoding, but it is a different process. So anyway, the audio gets
compressed for storage on the MD and there isn't really 650 MB on that
disc.
