i hate to keep bringing up unix on this list (if you hate me, just delete
this post :), but packard bell doesn't have anything to do with your
operating system. i have redhat 4.2 running on my friend's packard bell
(slightly upgraded sx2/50 with 4mb ram). if you can partition it (use fips
or Partition-It) right, installing linux or freebsd should be a snap. os/2
however is a good os, but being obsolete doesn't give it much of a stance
in the big OS war. so basically, i suggest you read further into linux or
something. once you see how different it is, you'll realize it was worth
the trouble
