TI-H: .5 Meg Expander Chips for sale

Granted National Semiconductor does not make the chips any longer. However,
I am not sure of the name of the company, but the most recent Digikey catalog
has a new listing of EEPROM chip manufacturers. A 1 meg chip is $32 unless
bought in bulk. The advantage to this, though, is that they have chips that
are 2, and I think 4 megs. They list all sizes in bits, of course, but their
listing definately states that they go up to at least 16Mb.

I am trying to make an Expander/Clone out of these new chips. If anyone wants
to figure out if the protocol is the same, then I could help with some of the
stuff. I can also help write new software if that is needed.

Reguardless of whether you want an expander, though, you should subscribe to
the Digikey catalog. It is free and has a lot of stuff that could prove very
useful at some of the lowest prices I have seen.
