Mouser, digikey, etc have it. The part number that I suggested is
LM2931Z-5.0
which is a low dropout 5 volt regulator in a TO-92 package. Perfect
replacement for the 78L05.

BTW, I designed the Extender uP PCB tonight... and it is about 1 1/4" by
2 1/4"... About the same size as the ESF with easily twice the
circuitry.
