ti-emu: Dumping ROM TI-83 HELLLLLLPPPPPP

I have used rom dump using a 4$ serial cable and VG's Cal.exe. I ended up
with 16 files which were 16458 bytes long. So I edited them deleting I think
the header which was 72 bytes long and the checksum which was 2 bytes long.
Now I had 16 files which were 16384 bytes long. when you times this by 16
you get 262144 bytes. This is how big the rom file would be had I have
created it. Apparently the Rom is only supposed to come to 256144 bytes so
what I am I doing wrong. The headers I deleted ended with an @ sign. Whilst
the checksum was the very last character in the file or last two bytes.
Anyone any ideas as to what I am doing wrong????????????
Perhaps it is my HEX editor I don't know. If anyone has done this before
with a TI-83 please tell me!

Thanks
