[TIB] Re: solver



On the 86 I believe it searches arbitrary values for the variable and 
evaluates them on both sides of the equation.  Then it subtracts one 
from the other.  When this value changes sign, it attempts to find 
exactly where it changed signs, or where it was equal to zero.  And when 
the right side of the equation minus the left side equals zero, the 
equation is true.  It then displays the value of x (or whatever 
variable) it used to get the two sides equal.

On the TI-89, I don't have a clue how it works.
