It's the other way around:

It is best to use self-powered speakers or headphones, or else you will
drain your calc's batteries really quickly.  Using your computer's Line In
port on your sound card is an excellent way to listen, as you can then
adjust the volume (which is pretty loud if listening directly) through your
computer.
