I also had the same problem with my Pentium-90.  I don't know why, 
but it didn't work with the LINK85XP software.  When I got my TI-92 
and used the LINK utility that came with it, it worked!  Also, the 
parallel port link software for the TI-92 worked.

Kind of wierd.
