Use a magnifying glass - or if you're lucky like me, some desktop
binoculars.
It scares the hell out of you when you see the size of the tip compared with
the size of the SMT component. I turboed my TI-85 like that.

I also tried removing the capacitor.  It worked fast most of the time, the
rest of the time it crashed (badly)
