Re: ti-85 as a GPS???

Jeremy,

I checked out the HP website, and found a link to a third-party manufacturer that makes cables to connect the HP200LX to an external GPS (Shier Systems & Software, Inc.) I did not find any information that would suggest that any HP palmtops are capable of performing stand-alone GPS functions. However, if you are able to provide a link that proves otherwise, I would be interested looking into it. I am considering adding GPS functionality to my senior project (engineering major). I know that it is tough to find a handheld GPS unit for under $90 (I'm sure the price is coming down), so I doubt that you could get a palmtop with GPS for $150 at this time. Unless you can provide additional details, I stand by my original statement : The best you can do is get one of the more sophisticated GPS units with a serial link, and download data to your calc.

Mike

The HP 200LX (and 100LX) is GPS-capable. You could probably find one
for around $150 or so.
