Re: What chip!

I have a 92 that I bought with my _very_ hard earned money and an 83 that
is being loaned to me. I'm really impressed with the 83, has tons of
useful features so far. only thing lacking really is some symbolic
algebra and maybe some calculation power for eulers method. but my
attitude is use a desktop if your cranking numbers. I'm limiting my
discussion to portable stuff, excluding so-called "laptops".

back to this thread, I hope all GC die and get replaced with something better.
the newton is the most impressive palmtop/hhpc/etc I've seen. I said the
newton
and not a windowsCE because from what I've seen the newton has _much_
better (albeit more $$) hardware and good software, seems to have lotsof
developers working on it. the strongARM (by digital?) just blows away
intel/motorola, so if you're going to base product on hardware, use RISC
and use something with low-power. that excludes most anything by intel.

The 2 gripes I have against the pilot are 1.) no keyboard, but you can
hook up a newton keyboard to type 2.) it's prettymuch a one-purpose
device, so I figure for the same price get a MP130, optional keyboard,
same ram, and I bet more software. unfortunately, it's now owned by
Apple.

saying "use intel" just makes _no_ sense, use motorola (like the _92_
does), or use strongARM. they have some sort of new chip out, smaller,
faster, does more, etc. does intel do _any_ risc? I doubt it.
