Re: Tape85

Right now I can send data through the link port just fine. Wave analysis
(at tape quality.. 8-bit stereo 22Khz) shows that the data output is good
enough for storage on tape. However, I can't seem to get the data back into
the calc. It appears I will need an analog 2 digital (ADC, A/C convertor,
whatever you wanna call it) convertor to get the signals across. These
things are really cheap.. One place even sold them for 6 dollars a piece!

However, I have limited experience with hardware, I don't live in the
states, and you need to order en-masse (100 or so) to get them for an
actual 6 dollars. various places on the web sell all sorts and kinds of
ADCs, most are in fact both ADC and DAC (Go both ways). The 'best' one I
have seen up to know is from Analog Signalling Inc. They are currently
giving away (sending them to your home) the data sheets for their products
for free, but only till 18th July. If anyone want's to continue the
project, I'll always be glad to help with it. However, for lack of good
knowledge of ADCs, I won't be working on it much.

If anyone does want to take a peek at it, try to search for ADC, Analog,
Convertor or something like that (I got plenty of hits, although more than
half of it wasn't actually about ADCs, but that's actually a pretty good
score for Alta vista..)

That website that's selling the really cheap ADCs (To this particular
non-hardware-technical literate it seems the one most suited..) I actually
found it when I actually looked at one of those ads :-). I should have
bookmarked the site, because after almost hjalf an hour searching I can't
find it. whine! O well, there are very many companies out there selling
them, so i'm still looking. many companies have datasheets for downloading,
and that makes life easier. I probably won't find something that will be
easy to get for me, but if I do, i suppose i'll work on it.
