Why slice a link cable?

People constantly tell you to cut your link cord up into little pieces to
get sound on your calc. My question is why do that when, for $1-$2, you
can easily go to Radio Shack and get a 3/32" -> 1/8" headphone stereo jack?
Sure, 3/32" is slightly smaller (only about .06") than 2.5mm (size of your
link cable) and it still will make contact with the inside of the link port.

Just my 2 cents worth.
