I did the very same thing.  After fixing the key (#8), I tried to turn it
on, before I put the screws back in.  It didn't work.  When I did put the
screws in, it worked, but the memory was cleared.  Maybe one of the screws
is used as an interlock so that the calculator will lose power when
tampered with.  A sort of sick plan to penalize you for trying to fix it
yourself.  I don't know.
