P2 is basically Pentium Pro (with 16-bit performance problems fixed) + MMX,
ie. internally very different from P1 but changes don't affect compatibility.
P2 was the first pentium to use RISC-like execution core, so it's quite
understandable Intel didn't want to spend any more time for new instructions.
