A89: file size

I have some questions about the size of a file on the TI.

I was looking through the TIGCC documentation and it said that the first 2 
bytes contain the "size of the entire file", but then I saw the line in the 
FAQ section:
size= *(unsigned int*) HeapDeref (sym->handle) + 2;
Now, this looks like the first two bytes contain the size of the rest of the 
file.
Which is it? is it the size of the entire handle, or minus the first 2 bytes 
or something else?
