A89: TI-89 ASM help

I just purchased a TI-89, I am used to my TI-85, and I am not sure about
executing ASM programs.  When I do what the book tells me, nothing
happens.  For example, I downloaded the PlusShell program, and when I
type "shell()" on the command line it just says "done", and nothing else
happens.  The same thing happens on all of my ASM programs.  What am I
doing wrong?  I hope you don't laugh too hard, I am new to the 89, and
the book doesn't seem to help me much.  Any help would be highly
appreciated,
