but you see, the first reasons you gave are precicely why the 2 systems
differ.  the input/output systems are different, thus making it impossible
to use roms from one for the other.  in the roms are what deals with the
various i/o systems, and if they are different, you cant use the same rom.
the calualtors are very much the same, from a programmers point of view, and
even more so from a user's point of view, but they are actually different.
