Well, I don't know about your calc, or anyone else's, but whenever any plug
is stuck in the jack, the calc turns on.  I've tried:
1) GL connected to the computer
2) GL not connected to the computer
3) TI-link connected to another calc
4) TI-link connected to an 89
5) TI-link not connected to anything
6) A plug I got at RadioShack to experiment with

All of these made my calc turn on!!!
