I wrote a shell that uses crash protection: File Manager.  Crappy name,
and the current version (on ticalc) is incredibly slow when you have
several pages of programs, but the crash protect works.  Programs run
from the shell can still crash the calc.  But when you pull the batts
and put them back, your memory is intact unless the program was more
than a simple game and messed around with a bunch of stuff on RAM page
2.
