A86: absolute addressing pains me greatly

Is there some special thing in _findsym that makes it return junk values
when a query is made about the (sqrt)KEY variable? It returns absolute
pointers, supposedly to the program data in the variable, that VTI says
are not only about a thousand off, but on the wrong page too!

Would someone please explain how I would go about getting three
consecutive bytes from offset 'NN' in a program variable, and storing
them to a location in the _asm_exec_ram space? Maybe I'm just doing
something way wrong.
