You can't use the OS lining routines with spliced links
because the recieving calc also sends through the link.
It sends confirmation bits, etc.  If a calc got multiple
confirmations or a calc waiting to recieve got a confirm-
ation, then that would screw things up.  Shaking hands
is just the term used for the first confirmation that the
recieving calc is ready for data.
