None taken. I have been using both AOL and IRC for 3 years now
and neither one has resulted in anything malicious that the reset
button didn't fix (and I've pressed the reset button plenty of times
on account of both of them). The absolute worst thing that could
happen when you're on IRC is someone locks up your computer.
And they occasionally do that on AOL too. The difference is there
is a way to prevent it on IRC (with winsock patches and the like).
Reguardless, the best defence is to not piss people off.

I don't know where you heard that letting someone get your IP is
bad, but they are 100% wrong. Every web page you browse gets
your IP. Every e-mail you send has your IP on it. Any program
that uses your Internet connection that is not AOL uses and has
to share your IP address. THERE IS NOTHING ANYONE CAN
DO WITH YOUR IP ADDRESS.
