RE: A86: ROM Images

The ROM image is like commercial software. As you know, it is illegal to
pirate/warez programs such as Microsoft Office, Windows, Photoshop, Quake,
etc. The same principle applies to TI ROM images. Believe it or not, TI
spent lots of money to programing and test the ROM so your calculator is
near perfect. When you buy that TI-89 for $130+, a majority of that goes
to buy a copy of the ROM image. That is your own, personal copy of it.
You can, of course, extract your ROM for backup purposes, the same as you
can keep a backup copy of software. However, if you want to run two
copies at once, you would need to purchase a second copy.
