Not actually. The authors usually write them with similiar intent,
but that is the only major similarity.

Viruses got their name from their behavioral likeness to the
biological virus. They infect systems, often undetected, use
the system to reproduce, and infect other systems (sometimes
killing the system in the process).

Trojan horses got their name from the Greek myth in which
the people of Troy brought a "gift" sent by their enemies
inside their defenses. The "gift" was used by the enemy
to get past their defenses. In the same way, users are tricked
into using trojan horses, believing they will do something other
than they are made to.

Viruses and Trojan horses are unrelated concepts and are
only linked by their usually harmful or destructive nature.
