A86: TI-86 Robot

Anyone ever think about using a calculator as the "core basis" of a robot??
Imagine, the whole calculator can be
used to control the robot, using the 2.5mm link port to interface with the
mechanics of the robot. Creating a program
that sends serial out to the external part. And the external portion can
convert the serial to parallel and use the parallel
lines as a basis for powering certain features, like going forward or
backward, left or right, flashlight on or off. You could
also have infared sensors to detect movement.

Really abstract.. just an idea, so if they are any mistakes, don't get mad
at me, I am just trying to get the general idea down..

A clock crystal would also be required for the external robot part.

Any ideas? If you see any mistakes or additions, then respond!

Basically this design allows for up to 256 lines to power motors, leds,
lcds, speakers, whatever! And it allows for up to 8 lines of input, and more
could easily be designed. 8 lines allows room for infared detectors, heat
sensors

(imagine your calculator driving AWAY FROM HEAT!!) , switches, light sensors
(imagine you calculator driving toward a light source or toward an infared
source! Have your calculator go spastic when you use the infared remote
control!)

I hope you don't get mad at the picture size at 8K, it is only the size of
about 3 regular mailing
list articles..
