i think the best way is the way that Sam Davies used in his
(WONDERFUL) debugger for usgard v0.95.  befor the interrupt was
installed, the user would run the program to install the interrupt.
the user simply selected the key to press, which installed the int.
and exited the program at the same time.  this wasn't a great job of
explaining, so you may want to get usgard 0.95 and the debugger.
