Re: A85: IR link idea

i'd just like to say, i hate my image people see me as. i don't like to
be a programmer and have people ask me "why did you buy a $200
calculator, do you have any games on it?" and i say "no, not yet" and
they say what a dumba** i am. i hate that, but i would never stoop as
low as laser tag. i mean it's a great game to play at night in the
fields with the actual head/body sets fighting several people, but in
the classroom with maybe 1 or 2 people with the IR link isn't very fun.
now if you want to do something real fun then make a program to be able
to scan the air waves for tv scanning, so that when the teacher isn't
looking turn on their tv and flip through the channels, freak them out a
bit--now that's funny (listening to them say "who's got a remote, who's
got it?"). i'm not against laser tag, but i am against a program that
involves many people, but only a few showup for, it's like haveing a 2
player hide and seek game.

i've spoken my mind, and maybe others feel the same way, i don't know.
if you want to make a laser tag program then fine by me, i know how much
people enjoy MAKING programs and not actually playing them, so if you
made pong over again then that would be perfectly ok.

I hate materialism and this "oh I have to do this to be cool" crap! I
know that I am not the most popular guy around my school and I know that
most of the other calc programmers aren't either (don't correct me if I
am wrong... you know the point I am trying to make). But what I do know
is that if you are going to go around your whole life worrying around
your image and what other people think about you then your's is a life
not worth living. I would rather have a fun, enjoyable life and have
everyone think of me as a total geek than trying to keep a 'cool' self
image. I know that many others on this list would say the same thing,
too (in fact there was a discussion on this about a year back (not sure
if it was this list though, could have been the asm 92 list)).

My point: live life the way you want; not the way others want. If you
want to [try to] play laser tag on your calculator then more power to
ya!

Last time I checked laser tag was a game. And besides, without new
ideas (however practical or impractical they may sound) where would we
be right now? And besides, swearing your head off and saying how dumb
you think something is isn't exactly what I call constructive critisism.
