In response to that last little bit concerning mainframes not being on the net, they are.  In fact, that's one of the major concerns, because a lot of companies (Prudential, Merrill Lynch, etc.) still use 3270 mainframes for a lot of things, mainly because it's a pain to upgrade and convert everything.  In fact, you can easily get a job with them if you know COBOL.
However, the virus is 99% impossible for any system.
