I don't see why this is a bad solution.  I mean, ideally, the OS should be 
able to recover from anytihng an application does, but without privelaged 
instructions and the like, you really can't do that on the z80.  And 
afterall, OSes impose this sort of limitation all the time.  For example, 
Windows tells programmers not to write to memory outside of their programs.  
It's up to them to comply, and if they don't, well, their program crashes.  
Same thing with this.
